Did you know the zofran they give you for the nausea also gives you headaches? and blurred vision? You did know that because you went on the internet and read all the side effects and interactions warnings. Scared you, didn’t they?
Day 5 after your first chemo and the headaches were continuous and not helped with aspirin, demerol nor percoset. You get good drugs when you have cancer! So back to the doctor you went. They took one look at you (you were a little gray around the edges, not to mention curled up in a fetal position on their table) and called an ambulance to take you to the hospital….which was across the driveway. What a waste of time but they wouldn’t let you walk by yourself…regulations, don’t you know?
6 hours in the ER and they still don’t know why you’re having headaches and blurred vision so you got admitted. Just what you wanted was more hospital time…more people groping your right breast….prodding places you rather they didn’t. None of this is because of me! It’s all from the stuff you’re doing to get rid of me.
Good news is they give you morphine and ativan. The entire world should be on ativan! They offer you lovenox shots so you don’t develop blood clots while lying in a hospital bed. You turned them down because you knew better than the doctors. Huh. Day 2 tests show you did have a blood clot that probably came from your port insertion but might have been from the chemo or from me. Any of us could cause a blood clot.
You get shown how to give yourself shots in your belly and sent home. The headaches are gone. The shots aren’t much fun but better than the headaches. And ativan is your friend! From now on, do what the doctor tells you to do.

I had blurred vision and headaches from the Zofran also so I quit using it.
I tried using other anti nausea medication but everything had some side effects.
I finally just decided to tough out the nausea. It wasn’t bad enough to put up with them headaches. I can get rid of migranes but with the headaches from Zofran nothing worked.

I don’t know if you still get on line but I would love to hear how you are doing. I love the way you wrote from the cancer’s perspective. You have such talent.
